For a Greener, Wilder Future
Welcome to Catch a Leaf Publishing, home to fiction and non-fiction children's books about wildlife, nature, animals and more. We are a small independent publisher committed to fostering a greener, wilder future. We're based in London, UK, and so our main focus is urban wildlife. Creative non-fiction that's entertaining, humorous, informative, inclusive and empowering.
About us
At Catch a Leaf Publishing, based in London, UK, the goal is to change the world, even just a little, to make it a healthier, happier place for ALL life, not just humans, but all the furry, scaled and feathered beings, too, as well as those with 6 or even more legs!
We publish children's books exclusively, where possible printed on recycled paper, with the hope that a greater understanding of our natural world will empower and help children to protect it.
SUBMISSIONS
We will happily read children's book manuscripts from authors and illustrators from the UK/Europe about wildlife, nature, animals, and the environment. We will only read submissions that follow these guidelines, below. If you don't hear back from us within 6 weeks of submitting, please take that as a pass.
We are accepting submissions of non-fiction and fiction, and are especially interested in narrative and creative non-fiction in general.
Must-haves:
The manuscript should have been professionally edited (Reedsy is a good place to look for an editor).
NO AI should have been used – in the query letter or in the story itself.
The author must have a wide network relating to the subject matter of the book and/or children's books/education in general. This means a large social media following (50K +) or a professional position with in an organisation relating to the subject matter, for example.
The manuscript/storyline and characters should be funny and/or witty or clever (we're not looking for lyrical or thoughtful stories at this time).
Please put the words 'guiding potato' as your email subject title – this allows us to be sure you read these instructions to the end!

“This super fun book ... is one I wish I had when I was growing up."
Dr Sean McCormack, conservationist and wildlife presenter
Wonderfully done! Written in such an engaging way to keep learners’ attention and interest! The illustrations capture the beauty of nature and demonstrate all that we should be aware of around us.
As a speech therapist, this is exactly the kind of book we look for as a motivating material to use with students. There is plenty of examples to learn new vocabulary, compare/contrast, describe, and understand humor.
I loved this book, and even learned lots of things about snails myself."
James Fair, Wildlife Journalist for BBC Wildlife, BBC Countryfile and BBC Science Focus magazines
